Introduction on user privileges

Navicat's Manage Users feature allows you to administer users, group and their privileges.

Users Management

User Manager is provided for administering users and their global privileges.

Create a new user

  1. Click the Add User button on the toolbar to show Add User edit box
  2. Enter the user name, user ID
  3. Enter the password, confirm password
  4. Set expires date
  5. Select group in Groups tab and click OK

Edit an existing user

  1. Select the user in the tree view
  2. Click on the Edit User button on the toolbar to show Edit User edit box
  3. Edit user properties on the appropriate tabs and edit boxes

Remove an existing user

  1. Select the user in the tree view
  2. Click on the Delete User button
  3. Confirm deleting in the dialog window

Groups Management

Group Manager is provided for administering groups and managing membership of group users.

Create a new group

  1. Click the Add Group button on the toolbar to show Add Group edit box
  2. Enter the group name, group ID
  3. Select group in Users tab and click OK

Edit an existing group

  1. Select the group in the tree view
  2. Click on the Edit Group button on the toolbar to show Edit Group edit box
  3. Edit group properties on the appropriate tabs and edit boxes

Remove an existing group

  1. Select the user in the tree view
  2. Click on the Delete Group button
  3. Confirm deleting in the dialog window

Privileges Management

Privileges Manager allows you to set the user access grants for certain databases, tables, views, functions, sequences, schemas, tablespaces and languages

Setting a user's privileges

  1. Select the user/group whose privileges must be changed. The user's Privileges will be displayed on the right panal of the window
  2. Select certain databases, tables, views, functions, sequences, schemas, tablespaces and languages for setting privileges
  3. Set the user's global privileges as required
  4. Click Save
